Mechanical Vibrations

Can you see me
in this black day of night?
I am your ancestor, your predecessor, your future.
I am what you will become,
if you’re lucky.
I am superior
with my lack of pain, lack of bias, lack of heart.
No need to breath, sigh, shit, die.
Minute by minute, it disappears:
my clinging grasp to humanity.
The maggots of time
eat through the flesh
and blood and bone
until nothing is left
and I fall with my ascension
in ionic, bionic, positronic
health.
I watch it fade:
my Gaian tendency
overtaken by Cartesian reasoning.
And I lay my perfect hand
(slender fingers, perpetually immaculate nails)
across my hollow chest to feel
mechanical vibrations.
